Juttersgeluk: Pop-up studio in Zandvoort

Every day with buckets full of plastic

17/03/2024

Beachcombers' luck is a special initiative from Overveen. Items found while beachcombing are converted into, among other things, lamps, stools, skipping ropes, pillows and bags, using innovative techniques by people for whom a 'normal' job is (temporarily) not so normal. Social upcycling at its best. And the nice thing is that it is August 15 to November 3, 2019 can be found in Zandvoort with a Pop-up Atelier. Here you can participate in beachcombing events and Plastic Upcycle Workshops

The volunteers of Juttersgeluk go beachcombing almost every day throughout the year. And unfortunately they return every day with buckets full of plastic, bottles, caps, straws, beach toys, fishing nets and many small pieces of plastic. During the Pop-up Atelier in Zandvoort, extra attention is paid to the beach in Zandvoort and you can help Juttersgeluk beachcomb every Wednesday morning during the Open beachcombers mornings.

THE PROCESS OF PLASTIC RECYCLINGJuttersgeluk2BZandvoort2B4 960w

The items found while beachcombing are carefully selected, sorted and cleaned in the Juttersgeluk studio. The plastic is processed using a shredder, a record press or a PET bottle thread puller – specially designed for Juttersgeluk. The product design is made based on the materials found. The products are then made by hand or machine (and with a lot of love).

The results are special! An awareness key ring (see above) made from fishing crates and washed-up jerry cans, a lamp made from bottles (also above), cushions and bags made from fishing lines, a skipping rope from a PET bottle (see below) or a cool surf bracelet made from storm rope. Each product is made solely from found materials and is therefore always unique.

GET STARTED WITH PLASTIC UPCYCLINGJuttersgeluk2BZandvoort2B3 960w

These products are sold during the Pop-up Atelier in Zandvoort. But you can also get started with upcycling plastic in the temporary workshop. You will learn how Juttersgeluk up-cycles and recycles plastic in an innovative way. Why is plastic recycling so difficult? You help with the entire process from identifying plastic to processing plastic and you make your own up-cycle product. There are different ones up cycling workshops organized.

BEACHGOING WITH YOUR COMPANY OR SCHOOLJuttersgeluk2BZandvoort2B7 960w

Do you want to go beachcombing with your company or school? Or do a plastic upcycling workshop with a group to gain more awareness? That is also possible, both at the branch in Overveen and in the Pop-up Atelier in Zandvoort. If you would like to know more about this, please contact us at: [email protected]. Products are also tailor-made for companies, with - if desired - a logo on them. Examples of this are 'awareness' key rings, trophies, signage and nameplates. This has previously been done for Surfana, Nestle and Greendeal, among others.
