After last year's success, Haltestraat will again be car-free in the evenings this summer. This makes the street a wonderful place to stroll, shop, have a drink, have a bite to eat or go dancing in the evening. The street is car-free from June 27 to September 25 between 5:00 PM and 2:00 AM.

MORE TERRACES & PROTROLLING

The Haltestraat is best known as an entertainment street with restaurants and bars. Now that the street will be car-free in the evenings this summer, there will be more terrace space for this catering industry. You can then eat out or have a drink in peace without traffic constantly driving past. This creates a quieter street scene, more space for pedestrians and makes it extra cozy. Instead of looking at cars, you can people watch, because it really becomes a street for strolling.

VERSATILE STOP STREET

But it's not just going out in the Haltestraat. The Haltestraat is an extremely versatile street. The street is approximately 500 meters long and you will find about 65 different businesses, including 25 catering establishments. In addition to nice places for coffee, lunch, dinner, an ice cream, a glass of wine/beer and a dance, Haltestraat is also great for shopping (including clothes, flowers and delicious food for home), going to the hairdresser, tanning bed or a beauty treatment, cycling. rent, get your key for your guesthouse, do the laundry or go to the casino.

CAR-FREE IN THE EVENING

During the summer in the evenings between 5 p.m. and 2 a.m., Haltestraat will be closed to cars and motorized traffic in three places: at Raadhuisplein, at Zeestraat and at Pakveldstraat. ATC stewards are present at these entrances in the evenings to welcome visitors, provide information about what there is to do in Haltestraat and monitor whether people are adhering to the rules. During the day you can still come by car or scooter. You are welcome by bike both during the day and in the evening. But if it is busy with pedestrians in the evening, it is best for cyclists to dismount.

BEAUTIFUL SUMMER EVENINGS

The Municipality of Zandvoort is happy to contribute in this way to a more attractive and safer Haltestraat in the evening. A car-free street is always highly appreciated by tourists and is also often seen in other tourist places. The municipality therefore hopes that many beautiful summer evenings will be experienced in the Haltestraat this year, both by entrepreneurs, Zandvoort residents and visitors.
