Preparations for F1 are now in full swing. Zandvoort is being decorated, the racing festival has already started and extra grandstands and event locations are being built on the circuit. F1 has a huge impact on the village. To ensure everything runs smoothly, Spaarnelanden is also busy with preparations three weeks before the F1 and the six weeks afterward to return everything to its previous state. Next week I will be going out with the people of Spaarnelanden again to see what needs to be done (to be followed via Instagram & Facebook).
THE WHOLE VILLAGE AS AN EVENT AREA
During F1, the whole of Zandvoort actually becomes one large event area. Although F1 takes place on the circuit, visitors will still move through a large part of the public space. Cycle paths, parking lots, the center and the walking routes to the circuit. Spaarnelanden's task is to ensure that the living environment is designed in such a way that it is safe and that it remains clean.
ADJUSTMENTS TO THE LIVING ENVIRONMENT
In the three weeks before the F1, Spaarnelanden works on preparing the village. This means, for example, that a lot of signs are removed. All gates on the cycle path between Zandvoort and Aerdenhout (the old tram track) must also be opened, so that all thousands of cyclists can pass through easily and without slaloming. Flags are hung and many extra waste bins are placed, for example at the bicycle sheds or where people get off the bus.
PREPARING THE SURFACE
But that is not everything. Thousands of visitors will soon walk through Zandvoort and park their bicycles. Spaarnelanden ensures that the grass is mowed where the bicycle sheds are located. Flower beds and public gardens are also cordoned off there, so that people do not walk through them and the plants are protected. Where the footbridges for pedestrians are placed, the surface is prepared by Spaarnelanden.
CLEAN TEAMS DURING THE F1 WEEKEND
The people of Spaarnelanden are also ready during F1. Spaarnelanden doesn't have to do anything at the Circuit, DGP takes care of everything there. But outside of it, it is Spaarnelanden's job to keep everything clean. Special Clean Teams walk through Zandvoort on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. These are striking and cheerfully dressed people who keep the streets clean and accept waste from people. A team from Spaarnelanden will also work in Haltestraat and Raadhuisplein during the nights to clean up everything there when the parties are over.
EVERYTHING IS NORMAL AGAIN
Only six weeks after the F1 will everything in Zandvoort be 'normal' again. Signs have been replaced, the gates on the tram track have been closed again, waste bins have been removed and the dune has been raised again. Naturally, Spaarnelanden's normal activities (such as waste collection, maintenance of sewers, playgrounds and surfacing) will continue throughout the entire period, before and after the F1.
OUTING WITH SPAARNELANDEN
This coming week I will be going out with the people of Spaarnelanden from Liefs uit Zandvoort. If you want to know where I'm going and what I'm going to do, then follow me on Instagram or Facebook. Here I share photos and videos about Spaarnelanden's work in Zandvoort before, during and after F1.
